Kelly Jenkins

Kelly lives in Orlando, Florida, and is originally from Texas. He began painting just two years ago and specializes in encaustic painting, incorporating mixed medium with attention in heavy texture and fibers.

Kelly says, “Contemporary and abstract in style, I like to create work that’s deceiving to the eye. At first glance, my work looks like an oil or acrylic painting, but when you begin to examine the piece, you will see that it’s a dance of paint, wax, papers, fibers and natural elements. Encaustic is an ancient technique that combines natural beeswax with resin, with or without paint pigments. I’m always looking for new ways of using the encaustic in various ways in paintings and sculpture. ‘Inspiration is the spark that ignites creativity!’ I look to nature and the world we exist in daily for inspiration.”
